The Department of Biotechnology and Microbiology is established with the objective is to provide excellent and sensible teaching with maximum practical and research exposure to create skilled and well trained bio-technocrats and entrepreneurs as per academia and industry needs in the frontier areas of Microbiology and Biotechnology.

The backbone of the department is the academic intellectual sense provided by a dedicated faculty and students coming from all across the country. The Department has a strong base in Microbial technology and Plant Biotechnology and the main focus of the program is on Genetics, Molecular Biology, Industrial Microbiology, Immunology, Bioinformatics, Biochemistry and other contemporary areas allied to Microbiology and Biotechnology. Basic training is given in Microbiology, Biochemistry, Genetics, Developmental Biology, Genetic Engineering, Biochemical Engineering and some aspects of Biophysics, Biostatistics, Environmental Biology, Bioinformatics, and Genetic Engineering. Biotechnology is an interdisciplinary program with life sciences, chemical engineering and bioprocesses. The students are educated with the industrial processes which evolve into byproducts using chemical engineering tools to design process equipments and optimize for effective production
The curriculum explains the use of living cells in bioprocesses along with their biochemical properties to be engineered in life sciences papers. The Department of Biotechnology offers a two years Post Graduate program leading to the Master of Science (M.Sc.) in Biotechnology, three years B.Sc. (Honors) Biotechnology, four years B. Tech Biotechnology and two years M.Tech in Biotechnology. The all programme begin with fundamental courses in Biochemistry, Genetics, Microbiology and Molecular Biology and then proceed to a thorough study of their selected area of specialization. The Department also offers M.Phil/PhD in Biotechnology

Class Rooms
Class room has been designed to be effectively used as smart class room with good ventilation and light facility. All class rooms and research labs are facilitated with wifi internet connections

Staff Room
The workforce team of the Department includes 15 teaching faculty and three non-teaching faculty. The HOD, Department of Biotechnology is seated in separate room. All faculty members are seated in separate staff rooms of the same building with individual table & chairs, storage cupboards & computers with internet connection and intercom facilities

Research, Training and Extension Activities
Centre of Excellence in Biotechnology Research & Training (CEBRT) is an entity of Department of Biotechnology, AKS University, and Satna (M.P.). The research and training programs CEBRT is designed to develop skills of aspirants as per present needs of the Biotechnology and Pharmaceutical Industries by providing skilled personnel wit hands on experience in various facets of techniques. Each module covered under CEBRT is “study and hands on” intensive.
Key points of the programs under CEBRT
- Projects trainees will get trained extensively by our Expert Faculty Members on research methodologies including:

- These project studies are aimed to develop skills of the trainees in all manners to achieve their goals.
- This training is also followed by Biotechnology Popular Expert Lectures from various prestigious research organizations such as CSIR laboratories, DBT laboratories, Central Universities and IITs as well as Experts from Pharmaceutical Industries. Trainees may interact with these renowned researchers and get guidance from them.
- Proper guidance will be given to each trainee for preparation of examination such as CSIR-NET, DBT and ICMR, GATE Fellowships programs.
